Great Nana's Guided Tour of Patea....FUN!

We have had a lovely morning at Patea. Great Nana came with us and told us all about what life was like when our Grandad was little. Great Nana said he used to climb up in the Maori canoe...and that was abit naughty (Mummy said!). Then we saw their house and the shed that Great Nana helped to make...she made the bricks you know...It was a two bedroom house when they built it, then they added a room to the left. Great Grandad used to go over to the 9th hole at the golf course and practise his golf every night (straight across the road). Everyone used to do the evening runs at the Domain. And we heard about the lovely catholic priest that lived next to the church...which is also next to Great Nana's church (with the new bell tower). Great Nana used to push her white cane pram all the way down the hill to the beach with the kids all the time...She was lucky cos she didnt work and used to do great things with her kids every day....and sometimes she would prepare tea first, then Great grandad would pick it up and join them down the beach at 5pm. We heard lots and lots of stories about Patea. My grandad used to walk down the wharf and jump in...which was very dangerous Great Nana said. Today there was a man on a four wheeler hooning up over the sand dunes. We also heard all about the Cubs and how all the kids wanted to ride in Great Grandads car. What a lovely sunny day we have had...and lots of lovely memories shared! FUN FUN FUN!
Ps: oh and on the way home, Mummy stopped at the Dairy and got us a lollipop (one for Great Nana too!) and some Nade to put in our drink bottles! Grandad used to have a good friend that lived next to the diary! On the way home Jackie fell asleep...so we had to bring him homw and put him to bed!
